Mortice locks, often called 5 lever locks, are usually the main lock on your door and are fitted into a pocket cut in the side of the door.
Most insurance companies will insist on suitable mortice lock be fitted to your door in order for them to provide you with cover. The commonest standard is BS3621. How do you know if your lock measures up? Simple really have a look at the faceplate if your lock complies with the standard it will be stamped BS3621, along with a date and the British Standard Kitemark.

Usually, the cheaper range of locks do not offer the same manufacturers warranty and only come with two keys.
